Florida Libraries Pay Survey

Near the end of my employment with the Orange County Library System (Spring 2022) it came to my attention that there was a lot of staff turnover.

As I mulled the subject over in my head, I came to the realization that I could request the pay and title for staff at libraries across Florida, and then compare the pay of similar positions to see how the pay at OCLS compared.

Over the course of several months, in my free time, I proceeded to do just that. I started by making an effort to identify the largest library systems in Florida. I then worked out how to submit public records requests with language that got me useful data. Finally, I processed the data.

I used python to process the data, display it in graphs, and present it in tables for publication.

I wrote a report of my findings using the Pretext framework, and I then generated the report for consumption.
